The Germanic Tribes

The germanic tribes moved into the area about 3.500 years ago, coming  from the east . They spread all over Europe and even up to North America . The romans described them as tall, blue-eyed people with blond hair . They were hunters, farmers and stock breeders : they planted barley , oats and flachs and kept horses , cattle , pigs , sheeps , goats , geese and chickens . Germanic tribes could be very different from each other .

The Chat

The Chat were a germanic tribe . They lived basicly in the area near  Fulda . The name of the German Federal State "Hesse" is coming from Chat tribal names. The Chat believed in gods, which were related to a sort of nature religion.
